I walked this track in conjunction with the Greenstone Track and a small part of the Routeburn Track. I started at the Divide (on the Te Anau to Milford road), walked a short section of the Routeburn Track to Lake Howden, walked the Greenstone Track to the confluence of the Greenstone and Caples Rivers, and then walked the Caples Track back to its upper junction with the Greenstone Track. The first photo was taken mid-afternoon from the Mid-Caples Hut and looks upstream along the Caples River. The track parallels the stream through this valley. I spent my one night on this track at the Upper Caples Hut.
The next two photos were taken the next day from McKellar Saddle on a rainy and overcast day. I understand that there are spectacular views when the weather is fine. The last photo is a view of the Greenstone Valley.
